“Find something you love to do, and you’ll never work a day in your life” Harvey MacKay
Being a Somatologist I have come to realize that you are more than just a word, “therapist”, you become an educator, a listener, a helper and later a friend.
I am a 25 year old South African Qualified Health and Skin Care Therapist. I attended the Dermatech Health and Skin Care Institute in Cape Town before receiving more intensive training in England in preparation to join the cruise liners in 2009. I worked for Royal Caribbean onboard The Independence of the Seas and The Oasis of the Seas for just over 2 ˝ years. I truly had the most amazing experiences, met exceptional people, saw beautiful destinations and learnt so much from other cultures all while living out my passion.
Why Somatology?
I view it as an industry of endless possibilities. I have always been fascinated with the skin and body and how it all links together, a sense of well being. With every treatment I perform I have the opportunity to experience each of my clients differently either emotionally, psychologically or educational, leaving both of us walking away having learnt something.
Being a traveller at heart I have so much love for my family and the time I get to spend with them, however I do savour my “me time” especially with a good book in hand, I am very receptive to learning new things…it just keeps everything exciting!
I consider myself as a strong, loving, passionate and very determined young lady, very much goal orientated and believe that there is always room to learn and improve in all aspects of my life. |
