Keep Your Colour Protected

by Michelle Smith

Hair colour need to be protected in order to prevent it from fading. The sun and UV rays being the main culprits in hair fading is hard to avoid in our extreme Dubai climate.

Sunlight fades hair colour and also dries your hair out. Even if the sun is not strong the UV rays can still cause ample damage to your locks. By using leave in conditioning sprays before exposure can protect your hair from these harmful rays by keeping the hair moisturized.

Swimming can cause damage to the hair, the salt and chlorine content will dry and strip your hair of its colour. Wetting the hair and applying a conditioner all through and leaving it in before going to the pool or beach will give your hair the protection it needs from the penetrating chemicals to survive the swim.

Using a shampoo and conditioner that is focused on saving colour intensity with every wash will be the key elements to saving your colour. Look out for products containing beeswax, as this helps to lock colour inside your locks, UV filters which adds additional colour protection from the sun, olive leaf extracts that helps to retain colour and fights against the bleaching of the hair.

I would also recommend to do a colour saving hair treatment a few days after your hair colour was done, to increase the health of the hair after the colouring process as well as give the hair added protection.
